"It's not a dead end if it takes you somewhere you needed to go." - Joe Bradford

I enjoyed the movie “Unconditional.” Joe Bradford is a great example of unconditional love.

I have also been reading the book “Unconditional Parenting” by Alfie Kohn.

The month of June has been a flurry of activity. We had friends visit from Japan; Curt, Cash and I travelled to Phoenix for the 2013 AGRM Annual Conference; Beth and I attended a couples workshop just this past weekend in Bend; and by the time you get this our family will be on the road to Michigan.

During this time, a lot of topics and questions have been discussed with different people in different settings: 1. How do we live by Grace and Relationship rather than by Law and Rules? 2. Does Grace really work? 3. Where is the balance between trusting God and the responsibility of raising monthly support? 4. What is "destiny?" 5. What does it look like for leaders to "lead out of our woundedness?" 6. How do we come alongside someone when we know there is a sin issue? 7. If I really messed up and really failed, who would I tell? 8. What is a "resolved sin?" 9. How do we receive the love we want? 10. What does this remind me of from my own childhood? 11. What is a "dead end?" 12. Is where you are right now, the perfect place for you? If not, would the God of all goodness and power allow you to be there? 13. What is the riddle on the cover of the book "The Cure?"

Sometimes I wish I had a built-in tape recorder to record the comments, questions and deep thinking that is going on. Yes, even "how's the weather?" was discussed after traveling to the 100+ degree weather of Arizona.

The Junkers, Jon, Tammy and their boys, stopped by Redmond as they were crisscrossing the US raising support and connecting with friends before heading back to Japan. Jon and I had the opportunity to talk about what it has looked like for both of us to raise support while trusting God for His provision for our family and our lives. The Lord has been gracious and generous to us both over the past year.

At the 100th Anniversary AGRM Conference in Phoenix the conversations at our vendor booth were non-stop. People wanted to know what it was like to run a rescue mission by Grace and Relationship rather than by the Law and Rules that we are so use to. On Thursday at the conference, we had the the privilege of team teaching three sessions with author Bruce McNicol, and had even more conversations about Christlike Leadership; Creating an Environment of Grace; Resolving Conflict with Staff; The Control Cycle of Sin and many others.

A little trivia...Bruce also shared with us the "riddle" that is on the cover of their latest book, "The Cure"…Jesus took the 'S' out of The CurSe.

The weekend of June 21 - 23, Beth and I attended "Getting The Love You Want" workshop in Bend and had a fabulous time with each other. It was a small group of 10 couples and we learned a lot about what it looks like to love each other. Definitely an experience we would highly recommend.

As we pack up to start our trek to MI, please pray for safe travel and for a time of encouragement, blessing and refreshment. We will be celebrating Beth's parent's 50 Anniversary (CONGRATULATIONS!) while we are there.

Thank you again for your support! Because of your support we are able to travel to see family and to continue to serve at Grace Network International and The Shepherd's House.
